Firefighting and rescue training held for more than 1,200 people

The Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Division under the Son La provincial Department of Public Security on April 11 organised a public outreach and hand-on activities on firefighting and rescue operations at Tay Bac Square, attracting more than 1,200 studeants and local residents.

At the event, the fire prevention, fighting and rescue police disseminated legal knowledge and measures to ensure fire safety and rescue readiness; and provided guidance on handling fire and explosion incidents, as well as escape skills in the event of a blaze at homes and crowded places. They also introduced models such as “inter-family fire safety groups” and “public firefighting points”, along with the 114 fire alert application and the “every home equipped with a fire extinguisher” movement.

The experiencing of escaping using a ladder truck attracts a large number of participants.

Residents, pupils and students were also given tours and briefings on modern firefighting and rescue equipment used by the fire prevention, fighting and rescue police, including fire engines, ladder trucks and rescue vehicles, along with specialised tools such as handheld cutters, water nozzles, foam nozzles, pulleys and tripods.

Notably, the programme organised hands-on activities for local residents, pupils, and students, including escape using a ladder truck; techniques for moving victims; practicing hose deployment and water spraying for firefighting; as well as skills in using rescue ropes and tying basic knots.
