The locality called for contributions and participation from agencies, organisations, and individuals in supporting tree-planting activities. As a result, more than 1,400 ban (bauhinia variegate) and lantana flower trees were planted along roads in residential areas and hamlets across Chieng An ward.
The activity aims to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape, improve urban and rural aesthetics, and gradually form characteristic flower-lined roads to serve the sightseeing and experiential needs of residents and tourists. Tree planting also contributes to raising environmental awareness among local people, promoting the image of the locality, and fostering the development of community-based tourism and services.
On the same day, the People’s Committee of Chieng An ward also organised the Apricot Picking Contest 2026 in Tong Xet hamlet, with the participation of six teams and 24 contestants from hamlets. The teams competed in two categories: apricot picking within 20 minutes, and cooking and processing products made from apricots.
The first-ever contest helped introduce apricot-based products such as apricot wine, syrup, juice, and jam - recognised as 3-star OCOP products - to visitors. At the same time, it promoted the cultural beauty of ethnic communities to tourists and created a foundation for developing experiential and community-based tourism products in the future.
