“Red Journey” programme in Son La receives more than 1,000 units of blood

The provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, in coordination with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, on June 23 held the opening ceremony of the 14th “Red Journey” 2026 under the theme: “Son La – One drop of blood – A million hopes.”

At the event, the Central Organising Committee of the “Red Journey” presented the programme’s commemorative flag and emblem to the provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.

Representatives of exemplary blood donors shared meaningful stories and experiences from voluntary blood donation activities, spreading messages of compassion and community responsibility. Volunteers also demonstrated their determination and readiness to contribute to the success of the “Red Journey” 2026.

Gifts are presented to 20 policy beneficiary families and vulnerable persons.

The Son La programme’s organising committee presented 20 gift packages to policy beneficiary families, poor households, and disadvantaged people in Son La province.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the “Red Journey” blood donation festival took place with the participation of 1,185 registered participants, including civil servants, public employees, Youth Union members, youth, armed forces, and residents from To Hieu, Chieng Co, Chieng An, and Chieng Sinh wards. At the end of the event, the organisers collected 1,044 units of blood.

According to the plan, the 14th “Red Journey” 2026 in Son La will continue until June 25 with various voluntary blood donation activities in communes in the Mai Son and Phu Yen areas. The programme aims to mobilise about 3,000 registered donors and collect around 2,000 units of blood, contributing to meeting the demand for emergency and treatment blood supplies during the summer period.
