Lively plum festival held in Yen Son

Within the framework of the Plum Festival and the first Cultural and Sports Contest 2026 of Yen Son commune, many cultural, sports, and experiential activities took place, attracting a large number of local residents and visitors.

The Plum Festival and the first Cultural and Sports Contest 2026 of Yen Son commune. 

From early morning, a community running event attracted nearly 130 participants, including officials, civil servants, public employees, students, and local residents of Yen Son commune. The runners completed a 3 km route passing through Kim Son 1 and Trang Nam hamlets, running through plum orchards at the peak of the ripening season, creating an exciting and enthusiastic atmosphere.

A highlight of the event was a plum-picking competition with the participation of 10 teams from villages across the commune. In this competition, each team consisted of three members competing within 15 minutes at orchards currently in harvest. The participants demonstrated speed and dexterity during the picking process. The judging criteria included weight and fruit quality, such as even ripeness, good appearance, and no bruising or damage.

Kim Son 1 hamlet, Yen Son commune, is the venue for the plum-picking competition.

After being harvested by the teams, the plums are brought to the collection point. 

Within the festival space, 23 booths from hamlets and schools in Yen Son commune introduced typical local agricultural products such as ‘hau’ plums, clean agricultural products, OCOP (One Commune One Product) items, and traditional handicrafts. The exhibition space was beautifully decorated, bearing strong cultural identity, attracting many visitors.

Within the framework of the festival, sports events such as nem con (cloth ball throwing), tu lu (top spinning), and tug of war attracted more than 300 athletes from villages and schools in the commune. The competitions were lively and exciting, with enthusiastic support from residents and visitors, creating a joyful and united atmosphere.
