The province currently has 16,450 hectares of mangoes, with output reaching 97,133 tonnes. There are 71 coded growing areas covering 820 hectares. Son La’s mango products are now available in domestic supermarket systems and have been exported to markets such as the Republic of Korea, China, Australia and the United States. However, sale still faces challenges due to unstable markets and limited value chain linkages, while quality standards are becoming increasingly stringent.
At the conference, Tien Ngan Trading Investment Co., Ltd. introduced its capacity for agricultural procurement, processing and export, while sharing experience in organising raw material areas to meet export standards. In September 2025, the company exported its first batch of 16 tonnes of mangoes to the RoK market.
In 2026, the company has signed contracts for a total volume of about 1,500 tonnes of fresh mangoes, with procurement scheduled from May to September. It committed to a minimum farm-gate purchase price of 6,000 VND (0.23 USD) per kg; if market prices rise, adjustments will be made accordingly. Contracts are signed at the beginning of the season, with a deposit of 5% based on the registered output value of growing areas.
To meet the technical standards of RoK importers and ensure a stable long-term supply, the company aims to jointly develop standardised mango growing areas, with requirements such as fruit bagging and harvesting at the proper physiological maturity (fully developed fruit with hardened seeds), and priority given to areas granted official growing area codes.
Representatives of enterprises and cooperatives engaged in mango production and sale discussed and clarified difficulties in sale linkages, as well as requirements on quality standards and traceability. They also proposed solutions to expand markets, improve product quality and develop stable raw material areas.
Speaking at the conference, a leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment urged localities, cooperatives and enterprises to further strengthen production linkages along the value chain; improve product quality and strictly comply with technical processes and standards of import markets; and review and expand areas granted growing area codes.
They also called for enhanced application of science and technology in cultivation, harvesting and preservation, while urging purchasing enterprises to observe their commitments and proactively coordinate in building stable and sustainable raw material areas.
At the conference, Tien Ngan Trading Investment Co., Ltd. also signed memoranda of understanding and contracts on purchasing of mango products with several cooperatives in the province, helping secure stable sale and enhance the value of Son La mangoes.
