Yen Chau Mango Festival 2026 opens

The Yen Chau Mango Festival 2026 opened in Kha hamlet, Yen Chau commune on May 30.

Attending the event were Hoang Quoc Khanh, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Lang Son provincial Party Committee, former Secretary of the Son La provincial Party Committee, along with a delegation from Lang Son province; Luong Thi Van Anh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and head of the provincial Party Committee’s Internal Affairs Board; Vi Duc Tho, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of various provincial departments and agencies; as well as a large number of local residents and visitors from inside and outside the province.

Yen Chau currently has more than 700 hectares of mango, with an estimated output of nearly 5,000 tonnes in 2026. In recent years, the commune has focused on directing and supporting farmers in applying scientific and technical advances to production, improving orchards, practicing fruit bagging, pruning, pest management, thus enhancing both fruit quality and economic value. 

Delegates experience a live-streaming session to promote and sell agricultural products. 

The commune has over 122 hectares of mangoes certified under VietGAP standards; more than 50 hectares have been granted cultivation area codes for export; and 32 fruit cooperatives are currently operating, participating in production linkages and product consumption networks. In the 2026 crop, the commune has proactively implemented trade promotion activities, product branding campaigns, supply-demand matching, and market expansion initiatives.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong delivers a speech at the festival. 

In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman Cong acknowledged and commended the achievements in developing the commodity mango production zone in Yen Chau commune. He urged local authorities to continue promoting the application of scientific and technological advances, expand production areas under quality standards, improve the management of cultivation area codes, strengthen production–processing–consumption linkages, and enhance trade promotion and branding efforts for Yen Chau mangoes. These measures, he noted, will help increase product value, raise farmers’ incomes, and promote sustainable agricultural development.

The Yen Chau Mango Festival 2026 takes place from May 29 to May 31 with a variety of rich and engaging activities, including mango picking contests, fashion design and catwalk performances themed on agriculture, traditional bamboo dance competitions, decoration of mango tree and fruit symbolic models, folk games, and exhibitions showcasing local agricultural products.
