Over 700 athletes participate in Son La Marathon Elite Hill 2024
The Son La Elite Hill Marathon 2024 took place at Tay Bac (Northwest) Square in Son La city on October 6, drawing over 700 athletes from agencies, businesses, communes and wards in Son La city and clubs in and outside the province.

The athletes competed in men’s and women’s events with distances of 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km. They started from Northwest Square and passed through major streets of Son La city and newly completed urban areas, including Nguyen Van Linh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Quoc Viet, Nguyen Luong Bang, 3/2, Lo Van Gia – Dien luc, To Hieu, and Elitte Hill Urban Area in Chieng Coi ward..

Taking place in favourable weather conditions, this was the first event to use electronic chips for timing. The runners tried their best to complete their distances in the fastest times possible.

Climate change is having an increasingly visible impact on agriculture in Son La, with more frequent heavy rainfall, prolonged heatwaves, droughts and unusually severe cold spells disrupting farming activities. In response, local authorities, cooperatives and farmers have stepped up the adoption of scientific and technological solutions, mechanisation and digital tools in production, in order to reduce risks, improve productivity and strengthen resilience.
The Centre for Agricultural Extension and Digital Transformation, in coordination with the Quynh Nhai commune People’s Committee, held a workshop on the potential of cage aquaculture on hydropower reservoirs on August 5. The event brought together nearly 100 delegates, including officials, representatives from businesses and cooperatives and fish farmers from Quynh Nhai, Muong Sai, Muong Gion, Muong Chien and Muong Khieng communes.
