Over 700 athletes participate in Son La Marathon Elite Hill 2024
The Son La Elite Hill Marathon 2024 took place at Tay Bac (Northwest) Square in Son La city on October 6, drawing over 700 athletes from agencies, businesses, communes and wards in Son La city and clubs in and outside the province.

The athletes competed in men’s and women’s events with distances of 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km. They started from Northwest Square and passed through major streets of Son La city and newly completed urban areas, including Nguyen Van Linh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Quoc Viet, Nguyen Luong Bang, 3/2, Lo Van Gia – Dien luc, To Hieu, and Elitte Hill Urban Area in Chieng Coi ward..

Taking place in favourable weather conditions, this was the first event to use electronic chips for timing. The runners tried their best to complete their distances in the fastest times possible.

The organisers awarded six first, six second, six third, and 12 consolation prizes to male and female runners across various distances, as well as special prizes to the two oldest male and female participants.

The Son La provincial Industrial Park Authority on October 7 held a working session with BHL Food Ingredients Processing JSC to prepare for the inauguration of the BHL Son La modified starch processing plant. The Son La Vietnamese Women’s Association – Connecting Women from All Places on October 5 held a gathering to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women’s Union (October 20, 1930 – 2025). The event was attended by over 120 members from grassroots-level women’s organisations across the province.

The Son La provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, in collaboration with the provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund, on October 2 organised a consultation workshop on building a project to promote agroforestry livelihood models and sustainable green tourism funded by forest environmental service payments of the community in Ngoc Chien commune.

Heavy rains brought by Typhoon Bualoi between September 28 and 30 caused widespread damage in Son La province, particularly in its eastern and southeastern areas.
