Over 700 athletes participate in Son La Marathon Elite Hill 2024
The Son La Elite Hill Marathon 2024 took place at Tay Bac (Northwest) Square in Son La city on October 6, drawing over 700 athletes from agencies, businesses, communes and wards in Son La city and clubs in and outside the province.

The athletes competed in men’s and women’s events with distances of 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km. They started from Northwest Square and passed through major streets of Son La city and newly completed urban areas, including Nguyen Van Linh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Quoc Viet, Nguyen Luong Bang, 3/2, Lo Van Gia – Dien luc, To Hieu, and Elitte Hill Urban Area in Chieng Coi ward..

Taking place in favourable weather conditions, this was the first event to use electronic chips for timing. The runners tried their best to complete their distances in the fastest times possible.

The organisers awarded six first, six second, six third, and 12 consolation prizes to male and female runners across various distances, as well as special prizes to the two oldest male and female participants.

In 2024, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development issued 27 certificates for safe food supply chains, bringing the total number of such chains in Son La province to 308.
Since the beginning of this year, the province's fresh tea bud output has reached 54,957 tonnes, a 4.74% increase compared to the same period last year. This production is sufficient to meet the needs of businesses, cooperatives, and processing units for both domestic consumption and export.

Recently, Moc Chau district has supported the establishment of the Mong Ethnic Folk Culture Club in Pa Khen 3 Sub-area, Moc Chau Farm town, contributing to enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the people and supporting the development of local tourism.
With just over a month left until the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tet), businesses and agricultural cooperatives in Son La province are actively producing and diversifying their products to meet customer demands.
National Steering Committee 515, in collaboration with Military Region 2 and Son La province, on December 17 organised the inauguration ceremony for the restoration and renovation of the martyrs' cemetery at Miliary Hospital 6 in the Northwestern Military Region.

In 2024, Son La province continues to restructure its agricultural sector, and promote the application of science and technology, and high technology in production, thus contributing to increasing productivity, quality, value, and competitiveness of products.
The Son La provincial Department of Public Security, in collaboration with the provincial Border Guard Command, is organizing a training course on drug prevention and control for specialized forces from the three Lao provinces of Houaphanh, Luang Prabang, and Bokeo.
