Over 700 athletes participate in Son La Marathon Elite Hill 2024
The Son La Elite Hill Marathon 2024 took place at Tay Bac (Northwest) Square in Son La city on October 6, drawing over 700 athletes from agencies, businesses, communes and wards in Son La city and clubs in and outside the province.

The athletes competed in men’s and women’s events with distances of 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km. They started from Northwest Square and passed through major streets of Son La city and newly completed urban areas, including Nguyen Van Linh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Quoc Viet, Nguyen Luong Bang, 3/2, Lo Van Gia – Dien luc, To Hieu, and Elitte Hill Urban Area in Chieng Coi ward..

Taking place in favourable weather conditions, this was the first event to use electronic chips for timing. The runners tried their best to complete their distances in the fastest times possible.

Nguyen Minh Tien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, on March 5 chaired a meeting on the investment and construction progress of primary-secondary boarding schools in border communes. The Area 2 – Song Ma Defence Command held the 2026 military enlistment and handover ceremony at February 3 Square in Song Ma commune on March 6. Attending the event were Major General To Quang Hanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 2, and Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.
Amid the festive atmosphere of the 2026 enlistment day across Son La province, a military handover and enlistment ceremony was held at military handover and enlistment point No. 2 in Yen Chau commune on March 6. Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the provincial Military Service Council, attended the event, and encouraged the new recruits as they set off for military service.
Son La province on March 6 held the 2026 military handover and enlistment ceremony to see off young people as they set out to fulfill the sacred duty of defending the Fatherland. A total of 1,995 citizens have been called up, including 1,400 for military service and 595 for service in the People’s Public Security forces.

In recent years, the policy of sending local workers overseas for contract-based employment has received close attention and direction from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee. Authorities at all levels and sectors have coordinated closely to implement overseas labor programmes effectively.
Leveraging its favorable climate and soil conditions, Van Son ward has focused on restructuring its economy by encouraging and supporting enterprises, cooperatives, and farming households to integrate agricultural production with processing and experiential tourism. This approach is opening up a sustainable development path and increasing local incomes.
The Incense Offering Festival 2026 at the Hai Ba Trung Temple was held on February 28, or the 12th day of the first lunar month, in Thong Nhat hamlet, Chieng Khuong commune. Attending the event were leaders of several provincial departments and agencies, Hanoi’s Me Linh and Lien Minh communes, and several communes in Son La province, along with a large number of local residents and visitors.
The Party Committee of provincial Party Agencies on February 28 held the opening ceremony of a sports tournament celebrating the Party’s founding anniversary and Spring 2026, as well as the successful 14th National Party Congress.
Within the framework of the Incense Offering Festival 2026 at the Hai Ba Trung Temple, on February 28, the festive section featured vibrant traditional folk games, attracting around 200 athletes along with a large number of local residents and visitors.
In the joyful and vibrant atmosphere of the early days of spring, Binh Thuan commune on February 28 officially opened its first Culture, Sports and Tourism Week 2026.
