The fishing contest, which started at 3pm on February 16 and ended at 8am on February 17, attracted nearly 100 anglers from Quynh Nhai and Song Ma districts and Lai Chau province’s Than Uyen district. At fishing spots surrounding the Pa Uon bridge area, each angler were allowed to use a maximum of three fishing rods, with no mandatory regulations on fishing rod type, bait and method.

This year's competition rules changed significantly as there were not many strict regulations. Anglers were allowed to freely choose the types of fishing rod and bait and use their “secrets” to achieve the best results.

After 19 challenging hours, anglers proved to be calm, persistent and experienced, with many catching big fishes. Angler Me Van Nam from Quynh Nhai district excellently won the first prize as he caught the largest fish, weighing 6kg. The organising board also awarded one second and one third prize.

The contest was an opportunity for anglers to meet, learn, and exchange experience, contributing to introducing and promoting Quynh Nhai river tourism to tourists.
