12th Congress of Son La province’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee a success

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Son La province convened its 12th congress for the 2024-2029 term on August 3-4, with the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Development".

In the 2019-2024 tenure, the all-level VFF committees in the province have promoted the great national unity bloc, revamped operational contents and methods, and completed all of the 10 set targets. They have also actively encouraged people to response to patriotic emulation movements and campaigns.

Speaking at the congress, Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, asked the provincial VFF Committee to be the centre of solidarity and a typical image of the great national unity bloc, and effectively implement the resolution and the action programme of the VFF for the 2024-2029 term.

The committee was also urged to continue promoting the spirit of great solidarity, potential, creativity, and intellect of the people, and building the great national unity bloc to develop Son La province in a green, fast and sustainable fashion.

For the 2024-2029 term, the provincial VFF Committee will continue innovating its operational contents and methods, striving for 100% of all-level VFF committees to coordinate with member organisations in encouraging members and people to seriously implement the Party's guidelines, and the State's policies and laws; and all hamlets, sub-zones and residential areas to well organise the Great National Solidarity Festival, associated with the celebration of the establishment of the Vietnam National United Front.

It will also work to complete the removal of makeshift houses for poor and near-poor families throughout the province. Meanwhile, 100% of all-level VFF committees are expected to sign and materialise coordination regulations with People's Councils and People's Committees and relevant agencies at the same level, while stepping up digital transformation, and the application of digital technology and information technology in front activities.

With the spirit of democracy, solidarity, and high consensus, the congress negotiated to select 84 members of Son La province’s 12th VFF Committee for 2024-2029.

At its first meeting, the provincial VFF Committee negotiated to elect a seven-member standing board, with Vi Duc Tho, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and President of the 11th provincial VFF Committee, as President of the provincial VFF Committee for the new tenure.

The congress also chose eight official and two alternate delegates to the 10th National Congress of the VFF Central Committee for the 2024-2029 term.
