Bac Yen Culture, Sports, and Tourism Week opens

Bac Yen district on October 14 opened a culture, sports, and tourism week to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of the Bac Yen district Party Organisation and the district (1964-2024).

The Bac Yen Culture, Sports, and Tourism Week 2024, themed "Cultural Space in the Homeland of A Phu Couple," which runs from October 14 to 19, features workshops and conferences promoting collaboration; booths introducing tourism and cultural products, safe farm produce, and specialties; exhibitions of artworks and photographs; cultural and art exchanges; cultural camp; culinary contests; demonstrations of cultural heritages and handicrafts; and tours of the A Phu Couple cave and various tourist sites in the district.

At the opening ceremony, the Director of the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam under the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the decision and presented the trademark registration certificate for Hang Chu wine, a specialty of Bac Yen. The wine is produced using the traditional method of the Mong ethnic group. In 2022, Hang Chu wine from the Tien Hung Cooperative was recognised as a typical rural industrial product in Son La province and a 4-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) product.

The week, with numerous activities in culture, sports, and tourism, helps affirm the appeal of traditional ethnic cultural values and highlights prospects for Bac Yen district to develop sustainable "cultural tourism".
