Chairman of provincial People's Committee visits flood-hit areas

Hoang Quoc Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, on July 25 visited Thuan Chau and Muong La districts and Son La city, which were hit by torrential rains and floods.

The working delegation inspects the flood situation in Muong Bu commune, Muong La district.

In Thuan Chau, Khanh and his entourage assessed the situation in Phe hamlet, Tong Co commune. Visiting flood-affected households there, he shared their losses, expressing his wish that they will soon stabilise their lives and production. On behalf of the working delegation, the leader presented gifts to nearly 40 affected families, each with 1 million VND (39.53 USD).

At a working session with leaders of Thuan Chau district and competent forces, Khanh called for joint efforts in searching for the missing and supporting locals to stabilise their lives.

In Muong La district and Son La city, Khanh asked leaders of the two localities to continue directing the relocation of residents and property to safe places, review losses, keep a close watch on weather conditions, give timely warnings to locals, and step up the communications work to encourage local residents to take natural disaster prevention and control measures, thus minimising losses.

The localities were also asked to promptly put forth plans to support locals, both spiritually and materially, to help them soon stabilise their lives.
