Hat Lot commune recognised as advanced new-style rural area

The People's Committee of Mai Son district held a ceremony on December 28 to announce Hat Lot commune as an advanced new-style rural area in 2024.

At the announcement ceremony.

Hat Lot has 16 villages, hamlets, and sub-zones, with 2,657 households and 10,960 people who belong to five ethnic groups: Thai, Kinh, Muong, Mong and Kho Mu. After reaching the new-style rural standards in 2018, the commune continued to maintain and improve the criteria, striving to achieve advanced ones in the period of 2021-2025.

Delegates attend the ceremony.

The commune has always promoted democracy among residents, as important issues were discussed, debated, and publicly posted for officials and people to give feedback, thus creating high consensus, effectively tapping resources, and attracting the engagement of locals.

Since 2019, the commune has mobilised nearly 11 billion VND (432,000 USD), with residents contributing nearly 3 billion VND, and 7,500 workdays. They have also donated land to expand hamlet roads, with a total length of 6.1 km; and help concrete 2.95 km of intra-hamlet roads, build 12 out of the 16 hamlet gates and two cultural houses, and repair and upgrade the commune’s cultural house and health station. These efforts have helped the commune meet the criteria of an advanced new-style rural area.

Average income per capita has reached over 55 million VND a year, an increase of more than 12 million VND from that in 2021. The rate of poor and near-poor households is 4.6%.

To date, the commune has achieved all 19 criteria for an advanced new-style rural commune, one year ahead of schedule. Notably, 100% of village roads are concreted; all hamlets are recognised as "cultural hamlets"; and 94% of households are recognised as "cultural families".
