Meeting celebrates 78th traditional day of Military Region 2 armed forces

The Son La provincial Military Command on October 18 held a meeting to mark the 78th anniversary of the traditional day of the armed forces of Military Region 2 (October 19, 1946 - 2024).

Reflecting on the 78-year journey of building, struggling, and growing, the armed forces of Military Region 2 overcome numerous difficulties and hardships, and demonstrated intelligence and creativity to achieve many victories on the battlefields across the northwestern, Central Highlands and southern regions, as well as in Laos and Cambodia. 

During the renewal period, the armed forces of Military Region 2 have effectively carried out the mission of building an all-people defence, a people's war posture, and a solid defensive area. They have improved overall quality and combat strength, nurtured strong political mettle, and maintained the ideological stance of the Party. 

They have proactively and effectively prevented the "peaceful evolution" strategy and coup attempts by hostile forces, maintaining political stability in the area and successfully fulfilling the mission of protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the new situation. 

A leader of the provincial Military Command presents certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.

On the occasion, the provincial Military Command honoured individuals and units with outstanding achievements during the peak emulation period of "30 days of model action, achieving three peaks of victory," in celebration of the emulation congress of the Military Region 2 armed forces for the 2019-2024 period.
