As a border commune with 28 hamlets and 2,219 residents, Muong Hung has mobilised a total of over 112 billion VND (4.4 million USD) for the national target programme on new-style rural construction. Of which, more than 110 billion VND came from the State budget, while the remaining was donated by the residents. The money was used to build infrastructure, including roads, cultural houses, classrooms, and clean water systems. The local people also donated over 2,090 square meters of land and contributed more than 5,600 workdays to the construction efforts.
In terms of economic development, the commune has maintained and expanded 783 hectares of various fruit trees, over 200 hectares of two-crop rice fields, 428 hectares of corn, and 58 hectares of short-term crops.
To date, Muong Hung has met all 19 new-style rural area criteria. All commune roads have been paved with asphalt or concrete, ensuring year-round accessibility for cars; and 80% of hamlet and inter-hamlet roads have been cemented. Over 80% of agricultural land has irrigation and drainage systems; 98% of households have safe electricity access; all 28 hamlets have cultural houses and spaces for cultural and sports activities. The average income per person has reached over 45 million VND per year, schools and health stations have met standards, and substandard houses have been eliminated. The poverty rate now stands at 5.17%.
