The provincial Department of Public Security on August 26 launched a peak period to ensure traffic safety and order on the occasion of the National Day (September 2) holiday and the peak month for traffic safety for students going back to school, and starting a new school year.

Attending the launching ceremony were Major General Nguyen Ngoc Van, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Director of the provincial Department of Public Security; and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Hong Minh, who is also deputy head of the provincial Traffic Safety Committee.

The peak period will take place from August 26 to December 15, 2024. Accordingly, the traffic police force will focus on handling drivers without a driver's license, and alcohol concentration so as to minimise traffic accidents related to alcohol and drugs. Emphasis will be placed on controlling and strictly handling cars, trucks, and passenger buses that violate the law; strengthen punishments on cases of expanding the vehicle's body, and carrying oversized and overloaded goods.

Each policeman must strictly comply with the code of conduct and the public security regulations in their work; and ensure control and reduction of traffic accidents in terms of both the number of cases and deaths, and reduce traffic accidents caused by subjectivity of traffic participants, especially the use of alcohol among school-age children.
