Heavy rains triggered by typhoon Yagi have caused significant damage to Bac Yen district. On September 11, a 10cm wide and 10m long crack appeared in Ngam hamlet. On September 14, the crack widened by 4m, and the landslide extended approximately 420m, posing a serious risk of large volumes of soil and rock burying the entire area, including 108 households with 524 residents.

In response, Bac Yen district mobilized military and police forces, alongside local authorities and mass organizations, to assist and evacuate residents in high-risk areas to safer places.

A plan is underway for relocating residents to a 7-hectare site in Can spring area, about 3 km from the old hamlet, which will facilitate transport connections with Mong hamlet in Song Pe commune and Suoi Chan hamlet in Hong Ngai commune. The estimated investment for this project is around 80 billion VND (3.25 million USD).

After the site inspection, Hung urged Bac Yen district to continue raising awareness among residents to gain their consensus on the relocation. He emphasized the need for urgent investment in essential facilities to support the relocation and called for continued mobilization of resources to assist affected residents.
