Son La delegation visits soldiers, residents on Truong Sa archipelago, DK1 platforms

With the spirit of "The whole country for Truong Sa, Truong Sa for the whole country", a delegation from Son La province led by Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee has joined a working group of the Ministry of National Defence to visit soldiers and people on Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and DK1 platforms from May 19.

The delegates mourn the martyrs at the Gac Ma Soldiers' Memorial Site.

Before the voyage, the Son La delegation offered incense at the Gac Ma Soldiers' Memorial Site; the Cam Ranh monument dedicated to fallen political prisoners; Linh Nguyen Pagoda and the Spiritual Park in the central province of Khanh Hoa. The delegates commemorated those who heroically sacrificed their lives to protect the sacred national sovereignty over sea and islands.

36 years ago, on Gac Ma island, Vietnamese soldiers stood in a circle to protect the Fatherland flag planted on the rocky island, affirming the national sovereignty over sea and islands. Their heroic sacrifice has been portrayed by the cluster of monuments featuring them at the memorial site. This is a testament to heroism, beutifying the heroic tradition of the Vietnamese people.

An incense offering ceremony was held to demonstrate the Vietnamese people’s tradition of "Drinking water, remember its source". Every Vietnamese person today and in the future will forever respect the contributions and boundless sacrifices of the heroic martyrs for the Fatherland of Vietnam.
