Son La holds firefighting drill in residential areas

The provincial People's Committee on the evening of November 25 organized a drill in response to a large fire in residential areas 11 and 12, Chieng Le ward, Son La city.

An overview of the drill.

The hypothetical situation is that an electrical short circuit occurred at a kiosk, causing a fire. The fire spread to the entire row of kiosks in the market and then surrounding areas. Local authorities and forces quickly deployed firefighting and rescue activities. The fire continued to spread to adjacent households, causing a large explosion that resulted in house collapses. The number of victims in the fire continued to increase. Abusing the situation, some bad people stole residents’ assets. The drill steering and command committees mobilised forces and means from departments, agencies, military forces and relevant units for firefighting and rescue mission, and arrest thieves.

Grassroots civil defense forces participate in rescue and firefighting activities.

With the rapid mobilisation of forces and drastic, synchronous, scientific and timely measures, after nearly one hour, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished. The police coordinated with other forces to ensure security and order and protect the fire scene for investigations to find out the cause.

The exercise is an important basis for departments, agencies, localities, key facilities with high risk of fire and explosion, and especially populous residential areas in the province to proactively stay well-prepared for large and complex fire and explosion situations.

Collectives and individuals receive certificates of merit from the provincial People's Committee.

On this occasion, the provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to four collectives and eight individuals. The director of the provincial Police Agency presented certificates of merit to 10 groups and 30 individuals, while the chairperson of the Son La city People's Committee grants certificates of merit to 10 groups and 30 individuals with outstanding achievements in the exercise.
