Son La police simultaneously issue new ID cards for residents

On July 1, the Police Division of Administrative Management of Social Order under the provincial Department of Public Security and the police forces of districts and Son La city simultaneously began the implementation of the new Law on Citizen Identification and issuing ID cards for residents in the province.

The Police Division of Administrative Management of Social Order under the provincial Department of Public Security launches the implementation of the Law on Citizen Identification and collects documents to make ID cards.

The Law on Citizen Identification 2023 takes effect from July 1, 2024, officially changing the name of citizen identification cards to identification cards. The new ID card has many advantages and high security, and is made with advanced technology that ensures the prevention of card counterfeiting. The electronic chip on the new card features authentication of personal information of the cardholder through fingerprint or face matching.

After the launch ceremony, the units collected information and documents to issue ID cards for citizens following the age groups:  from 0 to under 6 years old, from 6 to under 14 and from 14 and more. As of 2 pm on July 1, more than 300 identification documents had been collected.
