Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024 launched

The Youth Committee of the People's Public Security of the Party and Political Work Department under the Ministry of Public Security and the Son La provincial Youth Union coordinated with Son La provincial Police and Bac Yen district held a ceremony to launch the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024 on May 24 in the district’s Chieng Sai commune.

With the motto of “widespread, safe, effective and sustainable”, the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024 is implemented by the youth of the people’s public security force and Son La  province through the "Exam season support" and "Volunteer activities associated with professional tasks" programmes and four campaigns namely "Green March", "Green Summer", "Pink Vacation" and "Red Poinciana", with many tasks and solutions to attract crowds of youth union members, contributing to completing 11 groups of targets set by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee, the Vietnam Student Association Central Committee, and the Vietnam National Volunteer Center supported the Son La provincial Youth Union to build a number of civil works with a total value of more than 2.6 billion VND (102,076 USD). Accompanying units and sponsors presented youth projects for building new-style rural areas, supporting children and economic development models associated with ensuring security and order, with a total value of more than 6.9 billion VND.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, many response activities took place such as disseminating laws on drug prevention and control in schools; visiting and giving gifts to the families of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers; inaugurating a computer room at the Chieng Sai Primary School; organising free haircuts, medical examinations, consultations, and providing free medicines for students, children, and residents; celebrating the Children's Day on June 1; holding film screenings for and cultural and art exchanges with the people in Sai commune.
