Son La province’s Steering Committee for Digital Transformation on August 10 held a symposium on changing consciousness and improving the quality of human resources to create a foundation for digital transformation in the province.

Delegates at the symposium

Over the past years, digital transformation has made positive contributions to the overall development of Son La province. However, it has not yet met the local development requirements and also revealed some limitations.

The symposium aimed at analysing and evaluating the current situation; identifying theoretical, scientific and practical bases, proposing solutions to raise awareness of the role, importance, and urgency of digital transformation, especially the requirement to change awareness and improve the quality of human resources so as to create a foundation for digital transformation in the northern mountainous locality in the current period.

At the event, there were 12 presentations by departments, agencies and localities, with focus on the leadership and direction of Party committees at all levels; improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management on digital transformation; promoting information and communications to raise awareness of digital transformation; optimising resources for building technical infrastructure and human resources for this work and the development of digital platforms, information and data.

Delegates also proposed measures to recruit, train and improve high-quality human resources in information technology to perform digital transformation tasks, together with specific mechanisms and policies to create a legal environment and resources to promote this work, develop digital economy and digital society, and strengthen inspection, supervision, and evaluation of digital transformation results at departments, agencies, localities and units in the province.

In the coming time, departments, agencies and localities will continue to step up dissemination to raise awareness of people and businesses about digital transformation; diversify communication methods; guide and support locals in using online public services and digital services safely and effectively; mobilise and focus resources for digital transformation; and develop digital infrastructure and high-quality broadband infrastructure, and popularise 4G/5G mobile network services to better serve digital transformation.

It is necessary to promote the building of e-government towards digital government; focus on developing digital economy, e-commerce and digital society, and promoting the application of cashless payment platforms; and boost the effective implementation of information safety and cyber security goals, tasks and solutions, thus contributing to speeding up the progress and improving the quality and efficiency of digital transformation in Son La./.
