Thuan Chau officials visit, present gifts to Dien Bien soldiers

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, Thuan Chau district established 11 working groups to visit and give gifts to 40 Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline conscripted labourers who had directly engaged in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 14 communes.

During the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, in addition to contributing food and foodstuffs to the battlefield, Thuan Chau district also had over 730 people directly engaging in the fight against the French colonialists, 240 young volunteers, and 3,600 conscripted labourers who transported goods and ammunition to the frontline, 420 people directly participating in paving and repairing roads at Pha Din Pass. The locals donated 56,700 workdays to the campaign.

The district leaders inquired about the health and life of Dien Bien soldiers, young volunteers, frontline conscripted labourers and their families; and expressed respect and gratitude for their great contributions and sacrifices to the resistance war against the French colonialists, which contributed to making the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The delegations gave gifts to Dien Bien soldiers, young volunteers, frontline conscripted labourers and their families, each worth 1 million VND (39.3 USD).
