Winners of online law quiz on grassroots democracy announced

The provincial steering committee for the implementation of grassroots democracy on July 29 organised the awarding ceremony of an online contest aiming to raise public awareness of laws on grassroots democracy in Son La province in 2024.

Attending the event were Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, head of the steering committee; Luu Minh Quan, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, head of the provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission, head of the contest organising board; Vi Duc Tho, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; and Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; among others.

The contest, in the form of multiple-choice questions, was held weekly on the provincial portal, https://sonla.gov.vn, or its website at https://thitructuyendanchuocoso.sonla.gov.vn from June 3-30.

After four weeks, the whole province saw 153,787 participants with 301,084 entries, of which 90,186 scored 100 points, accounting for 29.95% of the total number. Unit and localities with high numbers of contestants included Son La city (28,838), Moc Chau district (19,333), and Song Ma district (13,576).

Speaking at the ceremony, Quan affirmed that the contest was a success, ensuring quality, efficiency, practicality, and thrifty. It created a widespread and useful political activity among officials, Party members and people. The contest also contributed to enhancing the capacity to apply information technology among them, speeding up the digital transformation task, as well as innovating content and diversifying forms in law dissemination and education.

On this occasion, the organising board decided to recognise and award four first, eight second, 12 third, and 21 consolation prizes to outstanding individuals; and one first, one second and two third prizes to excellent collectives.
