Competition features performances of Thuan Chau highland ethnic groups’ folk arts

A competition featuring performances of folk arts of highland ethnic groups in Thuan Chau district kicked off on August 31 in Co Ma commune.

Attending the event were five teams from the Mong ethnic group from Co Ma, Long He, Co Tong, Pa Long, and Muong Bam communes.

The Long He commune team presents a traditional ‘khen’ (panpipe) dance.

Each team performed 3-5 items within 15 minutes, showcasing various traditional dances and ‘khen’ (panpipe) dances used in rituals, festivals, and community cultural activities of the Mong people. The performances praised the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland, the country, people, and couples’ love. For music performances, the teams used Mong panpipes, leaf panpipes, and bamboo flute to present the traditional works of the Mong ethnic group.

The participating teams made meticulous preparations for the competition, from the content of their performances, performers, costumes and props, delivering impressive and distinctive performances that attracted a large audience.
