The highlight of the festival was the banh day (round glutinous rice cake) making contest, with five teams from hamlets competing. Each team prepared 5 kg of steamed sticky rice, along with pestles, mortars, eggs, and banana leaves. Team members took turns pounding the dough, while the women were responsible for shaping the cakes. Within just 10 minutes, most teams managed to create six cakes, meeting the size requirements set by the organizers.
Another popular competition was the crossbow shooting contest, which saw the participation of 40 athletes from Bac Yen, Song Ma, and Mai Son districts of Son La province, Tram Tau district of Yen Bai province, and Thai Nguyen province. Athletes competed in two events: standing shooting and kneeling shooting. At the end of the competition, the organizers awarded three first, three second, and three third prizes to the top shooters.
