To Mua commune Ban Flower Festival 2026 opens

To Mua commune held the opening ceremony of its Ban (Bauhinia variegata) Flower Festival 2026 on the evening of March 20. Attending the event were Hoang Van Chat, former Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and former Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; leaders of Van Ho and Song Khua communes, along with a large number of local residents and visitors from both inside and outside the province.

The Ban Flower Festival takes place over three days (from March 20 to March 22), featuring a wide range of vibrant and distinctive cultural and sports activities, including traditional costume shows, cultural camps of ethnic groups, and displays of typical local agricultural products.

The programme also includes cultural exchanges, traditional sports competitions, traditional feast preparation and presentation, fish-catching competitions, among others, aimed at introducing and promoting the unique cultural values, specialty products, and tourism potential and strengths of To Mua commune to visitors.

At the opening ceremony, an art programme titled “Colours of Ban Flowers in To Mua” was staged. It featured a variety of distinctive singing, dancing and musical performances, recreating the legend of Nang Ban (Miss Ban) and praising the Party and the beautiful homeland. The performances were delivered by staff of the General Services Centre, along with local artisans and amateur performers from To Mua commune.

This was followed by the traditional ethnic costume performance contest, featuring 14 contestants from hamlets across the commune.

Dressed in both traditional and modernised costumes of the Thai, Mong, Dao and Muong ethnic groups, the contestants confidently showcased their charm, drawing enthusiastic applause from a large number of local residents and visitors.

The opening programme concluded with a xoe dance of solidarity, a bonfire activity and the sharing of can wine, creating a joyful and vibrant atmosphere, strengthening community bonds and leaving lasting impressions on local residents and visitors.
