Training course on folk culture opens in Chieng Pan commune

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on October 21 opened a training course on folk culture for members of folk singing and dancing clubs in Chieng Pan commune, Yen Chau district, aiming to preserve and promote the unique cultural values of the Thai ethnic community there.

The training course will be held over ten days, from October 21 to 30. Seventy participants who are prominent art performers from Chieng Pan commune will learn Thai folk songs and dances, and how to play musical instruments like panpipes, drums, and gongs.

Course members learn traditional dances of the Thai ethnic group.

The course aims to empower key art performers in the commune to develop choreography ideas, stage programmes, and enhance their skills in performing traditional dances. They will also learn to use and play various instruments native to the Thai ethnic community, contributing to preserving the unique cultural identity of the Thai people and fostering the growth of cultural and artistic activities at the local level.

A representative of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presents the decision to establish the Thai ethnic folk song and dance club.

At the opening ceremony, Chieng Pan commune announced the decision to establish the Thai ethnic folk song and dance club, with nearly 70 members, who are artisans and prominent art performers from hamlets across the commune. The establishment of the club will contribute to promoting the movement of preserving and developing culture, cultural identity and arts of the Thai ethnic group in Chieng Pan commune.
