Forty years ago, on March 2, 1985, the Son La provincial Museum was officially established, based on the Northwest Region Museum, and later the Museum Desk of the Son La provincial Department of Culture. Over the course of 40 years of construction and development, the Son La provincial Museum has consistently adhered to the political tasks assigned, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the rich historical and cultural values of the ethnic groups in Son La.

The Son La provincial chapter of the Association of Literature and Arts of Vietnamese Ethnic Minorities held its 7th Congress for the 2025–2030 term on February 26. 

The Chieng Tuong Border Guard Station, in coordination with Long Phieng and Chieng Tuong communes of Yen Chau district, on February 26 organised the All-People's Border Defence Festival to celebrate the 66th Traditional Day of the Border Guard Force (March 3, 1959 –2025) and the 36th All-People's Border Defence Day (March 3, 1989 – 2025). 

The Red Cross Society of Son La province on February 26 coordinated with the Mai Son district Medical Centre to provide free health check-ups, consultations and medicine for 200  poor people, policy beneficiaries, the elderly, those who rendered service to the revolution, and victims of Agent Orange in Muong Chanh and Chieng Chung communes.

Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and deputy head of the Standing Board of the provincial Steering Committee for the development of social, health, and unemployment insurance participants, on February 26 chaired a conference to evaluate the activities of the Steering Committee in 2024 and set targets for 2025.

In spring, Son La province’s gateway district of Van Ho is truly beautiful. The majestic landscapes of the mountains and forests, combined with the friendliness of the people and the rich cultural heritage of the local ethnic groups, leave a deep impression on visitors each time they return to this place.

Yen Chau is one of the districts with a large mango cultivation area in Son La province, covering 3,283 hectares of various types, including 3,022 hectares of GL4 mangoes and 261 hectares of local mangoes, with a total yield of over 14,300 tonnes. Mangoes are now in the flowering stage, so the cooperatives and mango growers here are focusing on caring for the new season.

The provincial People's Committee on February 25 launched a campaign to raise donations for the "To Hieu Scholarship Fund" in 2025.

In January, the total revenue from social, health, and unemployment insurance premiums across Son La province reached nearly 173 billion VND (6.77 million USD).

The People's Committee of Son La province has recently issued a decision to recognise and award certificates to 37 local schools for meeting national standards for the 2024-2025 school year.

In order to build cultural infrastructure, Bac Yen district has focused on reviewing the current status of cultural houses in the hamlets and sub-areas to develop investment, upgrading, and renovation plans.

The plum orchards on the Moc Chau plateau are entering the fruit-setting period. Taking advantage of the warm weather, farmers are focusing on caring for the trees, pruning branches, fertilising, irrigating, and, most importantly, controlling pests and diseases to improve the fruit-setting rate and ensure a bountiful harvest.

If the colourful traditional costumes of the mountainous ethnic groups are regarded as works of art, their creators should undoubtedly be celebrated as artisans. Behind each masterpiece lies a meticulous and creative process, where every detail is thoughtfully crafted to form distinctive patterns that embody the cultural identity of each ethnic group.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Hong Minh on February 25 inspected the progress of a road project from Sub-area 26/3 in Co Noi commune to Sub-area 10 in Hat Lot commune, Mai Son district. He also looked into the attraction of investment to projects in the locality.

Son La city on February 25 held a meeting to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 – 2025).

In 2024, Muong La district provided over 500 million VND (19,573 USD) for four cooperatives to promote agricultural products on mass media platforms.

In order to become a friendly and safe city rich in cultural identity, Son La city has established cultural houses in all 139 residential areas, hamlets, and sub-areas.
