With the theme "Developing a reading culture to promote lifelong learning," the week takes place from October 1-7. To build and develop a reading culture, schools in the district have established standardized libraries and enriching their book collections. Communes and towns have developed community learning centers, while organisations and socio-political units have organised various short training programmes to update knowledge and skills, improving public understanding of various fields in social life. This contributes to raising the quality of life and meeting the lifelong learning needs of the community.
Mai Son district has directed agencies, units, communes, towns, and educational institutions to widely disseminate information about the purpose, significance, role, and benefits of lifelong learning, toward building a learning society.
Activities during the week will be implemented both in-person and online to effectively spread the theme in the community.
Additionally, there will be a strong emphasis on applying information technology, optimizing technological platforms, and digital transformation. Exchanges, contests, discussions, and new book introductions will be organised, while reading clubs based on themes and age groups established, encouraging local people to read and share their thoughts together.
There will also be initiatives to mobilise social resources for the construction of classroom libraries for schools in remote areas, facilitating regular access to books by students and the community.
