Son La launches "Youth Month, Border March" programme, tree planting festival

The Youth Union of Son La province, in collaboration with the provincial Border Guard Command and the Moc Chau district People’s Committee, held a ceremony on February 25 at Long Sap border gate border guard station, Long Sap commune to launch the "Youth Month, Border March" programme and respond to the 2024 tree planting festival.

With the theme of "Youths pioneer in volunteer activities for community life", this year's Youth Month is organised to promote the spirit of pioneering and volunteering and creativity of young people in participating in activities for the benefit of the community and society; and accompanying border guards, people, and children in extremely difficult mountainous and border communes.

At the programme, the provincial Youth Union and accompanying units inaugurated the project "Lighting up the border line"; implemented a mural project, presented gifts, water pumps and maps, and breeding goats to hamlet heads, reputable people, and young people who are active in economic development; and granted scholarships to students in difficult circumstances.

They also provided free medical examination, consultations, drugs, and haircuts for people and children in border areas; launched a campaign to plant scattered trees and 400 trees for livelihoods in response to the 2024 tree planting festival, with a total value of over 300 million VND (12,175 USD).
