At the workshop to disseminate a plan to check the vaccination history and administer booster doses of vaccines for children entering preschools and primary schools in the province in 2024.

After two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the rate of vaccinations for children in the province has decreased, posing a risk of the emergence of epidemics in preschool and primary school age groups.

To increase the coverage rate of vaccines in the national expanded programme on immunisation, the provincial People's Committee has issued Plan No. 177/KH - UBND on checking the medical history and giving booster doses to children entering preschools and primary schools in the province.

The plan aims to have 100% of children have their vaccination history of doses in the national programme checked, and at least 90% of children identified as unvaccinated with or yet to receive full doses of vaccines against measles, measles-rubella (MR), polio (bOPV, IPV) and Japanese encephalitis (JE) to be immunised to prevent diseases.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing the development of a detailed plan for doing these works, such as collecting vaccination records; reviewing and updating the vaccination history; administering booster doses at all immunisation sites in the province; having plans to monitor and handle adverse events after vaccination in localities. The progress of implementation of these works in districts ensures safety and effectiveness in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s instructions.
