The festival, which lasts from February 16 to 18, features various unique and exciting activities, such as an art competition with both modern and traditional genres, a camp competition, and a rice-cooking competition, along with folk games like tulu, a version of spinning tops, pao (cloth ball) throwing, ca kheo (walking on stilts), stick pushing, and tug-of-war.
Over 200 athletes and locals from hamlets in Long Luong have joined these activities. There are also booths showcasing items under the “One Commune-One Product” (OCOP) programme in Van Ho district.
Long Luong commune now boasts over 500 hectares of peach trees. For the Mong people there, peach blossoms not only symbolise spring, good luck, and wealth but also serve as a close companion.
Peach trees not only bring income to locals with their fruits and flowers, but also make the commune attractive to tourists.
The festival aims to preserve and promote the traditional culture of local ethnic minorities, as well as honour the beauty of the peach blossoms. It is also expected to promote local tourism, and generate investment and cooperation opportunities./.
