Moc Chau tourist area gets national status

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 22 signed Decision No. 1077/QD-BVHTTDL on recognising the Moc Chau National Tourist Area in Son La province.

Under the decision, the Moc Chau tourist area is recognised as a national tourist area. Its location, scale, and boundaries are specified in Clause 1, Article 1 of Decision No. 2050/QD-TTg issued on November 12, 2014 by the Prime Minister approving the master plan for developing the Moc Chau National Tourist Area in Son La province by 2020, with a vision to 2030.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned to propose the People's Committee of Son La province coordinate with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organise a ceremony to announce the decision of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognising the Moc Chau National Tourist Area to promote investment and attract tourists.

The recognition will create an important motivation for Son La province in general, and Moc Chau and Van Ho districts in particular to continue their efforts to further develop tourism, affirming the national tourist area’s position on the world tourism map.
