Northwest culture, tourism week underway in Ho Chi Minh City

The culture and tourism week of Vietnam's northwestern region kicked off at the Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in Ho Chi Minh City on December 4 evening.

The programme offers a meeting place of cultural colours, and an opportunity to connect cultural and tourism products, contributing to promoting links in tourism development in the region and the country at large.

It also helps to tap potential and strengths, attract investments, build unique and attractive tourism products, and consolidate and enhance the comprehensive connectivity in tourism between the region and HCM City.

The event will run until December 7 with a range of special cultural activities featuring the community culture of Thai, Mong and Dao ethnic groups, and “Tang cau” - a special wedding ritual of Thai people in Son La, along with art performances, a street parade, and exhibitions and fairs.

At the opening ceremony, delegates and audiences enjoyed an art programme honouring Vietnam as a wonderful country. It was divided into three chapters, with the participation of more than 250 artists from HCM City and Son La, Dien Bien and Ha Giang provinces, creating a unique and attractive art space, bearing the mark of the northwestern region in the heart of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh.
