Son La earned a total score of 683 points, ranking sixth out of the 13 participating delegations.

The 10th National Phu Dong Sports Games - Region 1, which opened on May 10, saw the competition of nearly 2,400 athletes and coaches from 13 northern provinces namely Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Cao Bang, Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Son La, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Lai Chau.

They competed in 145 events of 11 sports: football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, shuttlecock, athletics, stick pushing, swimming, basketball, tug of war and aerobics.

The Son La delegation had 112 athletes participating in the seven sports of athletics, shuttlecock, women's football, badminton, tug of war, stick pushing and basketball; and surpassed all the set medal targets.

Phu Dong is a sports festival for students that aims to promote the movement of physical training and sports competition to improve health among the young generation, contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual lives of students and repelling social misbehaviour in schools. It is also an opportunity for students to exchange and show off their sports talents and abilities.
