Son La students won eight gold, six silver and four bronze medals to claim the second place in the medal tally of the first National Student Taekwondo Championship held from April 1-4 in the central province of Thua Thien Hue. The championship was jointly organised by the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, the Vietnam Student Sports Association, the Vietnam University and Professional Sports Association, and the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien-Hue province.

This year's tournament brought together more than 1,000 students from 68 units across the country, competing in two professional and amateur categories, divided by education levels from primary to high school and university levels.

Son La sent three coaches and 29 athletes who competed in individual and team combat (kyorugi) and performance (poomsae) to this tournament.
