Winners of Son La city’s folk dance and Tai Chi club contest announced

On October 1, at Northwest Square, the Son La city People's Committee held the award ceremony of a contest of folk dance and Tai Chi clubs in the city, in response to the International Day of Older Persons (October 1) and the Action Month for the Vietnamese Elderly.

The contest attracted the participation of 16 clubs with more than 400 members whose performances were well prepared and elaborately choreographed, with synchronised and beautiful movements.

Over the past years, the city Association of the Elderly has well organised patriotic emulation movements such as “The elderly participate in protecting the environment and building of new-style rural areas and civilised urban areas”, “Learning and talent development encouragement”, and “All people unite to build cultural life at the grassroots”, contributing to improving the quality of material and spiritual life of the elderly, and building a cohesive and civilised community. In the coming time, the city will continue to pay attention to and create conditions for the elderly to promote their role in the locality building and development, and become a shining example and spiritual support for the younger generation.

The contest was an opportunity for the elderly to demonstrate their talents and strengths, and improve collective skills and physical health. It also contributed to promoting the physical training and exercise movement for the elderly.

The first prize in the folk dance category is presented to the team of the elderly in To Hieu ward.
