The hospital was established in 1954 as a frontline medical station in Thach Luong commune, Van Chan district, Nghia Lo province (now Yen Bai province). After 70 years of construction and development, it has been built spaciously and modernly, meeting the development of the current health system and the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of local people. The number of inpatients is from 650-700 a day, and 700-800 people receive medical examination a day.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh speaks at the ceremony.

The hospital is equipped with advanced and modern equipment, meeting the criteria of a specialised hospital in the northwestern region, such as 3.0 Tesla MRI machine, 180-slice CT scanner, DSA vascular intervention system, Robotic surgery system, accelerated radiotherapy system, and high-function operating room. These have enabled the hospital to perform a lot of specialised and difficult techniques.
