The ceremony saw the presence of Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; leaders of several central and provincial hospitals; and former leaders and staff of the provincial General Hospital.
The hospital was established in 1954 as a frontline medical station in Thach Luong commune, Van Chan district, Nghia Lo province (now Yen Bai province). After 70 years of construction and development, it has been built spaciously and modernly, meeting the development of the current health system and the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of local people. The number of inpatients is from 650-700 a day, and 700-800 people receive medical examination a day.
The hospital is equipped with advanced and modern equipment, meeting the criteria of a specialised hospital in the northwestern region, such as 3.0 Tesla MRI machine, 180-slice CT scanner, DSA vascular intervention system, Robotic surgery system, accelerated radiotherapy system, and high-function operating room. These have enabled the hospital to perform a lot of specialised and difficult techniques.
With its achievements, the hospital has been awarded by the Government with two third-class Labour Orders; one second-class Labour Order; and two emulation flags. The State President has also presented the title of Meritorious Doctor to 19 doctors and nurses; along with many certificates of merit from agencies at all levels and sectors granted to the collectives and individuals of the hospital.
Speaking at the ceremony, Khanh commended and acknowledged the results that the provincial General Hospital has achieved in recent years. He requested the hospital staff and doctors to continue improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, developing high-quality human resources, expanding access to modern science and technology, and new and specialized fields.
The hospital was required to coordinate with central-level hospitals to provide specialised training and perform advanced techniques to serve the needs of patients, and take patient satisfaction as a measure of the quality of medical examination and treatment to better meet their health care needs, worthy of being the leading medical unit in the province.
On this occasion, the provincial People's Committee awarded the certificates of merit to seven collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding contributions to the construction and development of the hospital.
