Provincial leader congratulates Laos’ Luang Namtha province on traditional Bunpimay festival

A delegation of Son La province led by Hoang Quoc Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee on April 5 visited Laos’ Luang Namtha province and congratulated the local leaders and people on their traditional Bunpimay or New Year festival 2023.

Accompanying Khanh were Cha A Cua, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Council; and leaders of some departments and agencies of the province.

Receiving the delegation were Chanthong Keopasot, Deputy Secretary of the Luang Namtha provincial Party Committee and head of the committee’s Organization Commission.

Khanh extended New Year greetings to the Party Organization, administration and people of Luang Namtha province; and congratulated the province on its socio-economic development achievements in the past year.

He briefed his hosts on the socio-economic development of Son La province in the past year, with synchronous infrastructure investment. In 2022, Son La province put into operation a National Highway 6 section bypassing Son La city. It is also actively preparing for building the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway’s section in Son La province and Na San airport. He wished the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos as well as between Son La and Luang Namtha will develop more fruitfully in the future.

Chanthong Keopasot thanked Son La for its special attention to Luang Namtha. He expressed his wish that the special friendship and solidarity between the two countries and between the two localities would further thrive. In the coming time, Luang Namtha hopes that Son La will continue to facilitate regular exchanges between people and businesses of the two localities in order to promote their socio-economic development, as well as tighten their friendship and cooperation.

On this occasion, Son La province presented five laptops worth 100 million VND (4,261 USD) to Luang Namtha province.
