Provincial-level firefighting drill held at Mai Son Industrial Park

The Son La provincial People's Committee organised a provincial-level firefighting and rescue drill at the Mai Son Industrial Park on September 28, with the participation of different forces and vehicles.

The drill was attended by Vice Chairman of the committee Nguyen Thanh Cong, who is also head of the drill steering committee, among other officials.

It consisted of two parts covering management mechanism and practice. In the first part, the participants watched a video clip featuring the operation of the command mechanism in emergency cases.

The second featured a hypothetical scenario in which a fire broke out at the production facility of BHL Son La Agricultural Processing JSC in the Mai Son Industrial Park at 12:15pm. The blaze was caused by biogas leakage in the combustion chamber of the agricultural product drying system, which then engulfed adjacent areas. At that time, the automatic fire alarm system was under maintenance and repair so it was incapable of performing its functions.

The drill steering committee mobilised 500 people and more than 60 vehicles and equipment from 42 units. With the quick mobilisation of forces and the drastic, synchronous, scientific and timely implementation of measures, the fire was completely controlled and extinguished within nearly one hour.

In his remarks, Cong said the drill took place as planned, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles. It served as an important foundation for departments, agencies, localities and facilities with a high risk of fire and explosion to make fire safety preparedness, he added.
