He showed his hope that people will continue to promote local potential and advantages to develop sustainable coffee cultivation associated with environmental protection.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue awarded 20 gifts to policy beneficiaries in Son La.
The competition sees the participation of five teams from Mai Son, Yen Chau, Sop Cop and Thuan Chau districts and Son La city. With the theme "Sustainable coffee production adaptive to climate change", the competition features four parts: Farmer greetings, listening to farmers’ opinions, knowledge of farmers, and farmers’ competition.
Right after the opening ceremony, the teams competed in picking ripe coffee cherries. This contest requires the picking skills to ensure the yield and quality of coffee cherries, while not harming coffee trees.
Contestants must pick ripe coffee cherries by hand and ensure technical criteria, such as not shaking the tree, breaking branches, smashing the fruit or other acts that harm the coffee tree. The yield of ripe coffee cherries picked by the teams is the basis for ranking and scoring.
The competition is a useful playground, helping officials and coffee farmers in districts and Son La city have an opportunity to meet and exchange experience in coffee production and business; gain access to and apply science and technology in production and life; and enhance mutual understanding and solidarity.
Other parts of the competition continue at 8pm at Tay Bac Square. Son La Newspaper will give updates on this competition.
