The drill was divided into two parts, including theory and practice. In the theory part, Van Ho district’s steering committee for urgent issues in forest protection and fire prevention and fighting held a meeting to disseminate the directives and dispatches of the Chairperson of the provincial People's Committee; and consider adjusting and supplementing forest fire response and search and rescue plans, implementing forest fire prevention and fighting, and promptly responding to emerging situations.
The practice part took place in Co Long hamlet, Long Luong commune, including three stages: before the forest fire broke out, when the forest fire broke out, and concluding fire fighting and fixing the consequences. The hypothetical situation was that households, in the process of burning fields, subjectively made the fire catch a hut and regenerated forest in an area with dangerous and extremely dangerous fire levels. They shouted for a number of surrounding households to help put out the fire. However, dry weather combined with strong winds caused the fire to spread.
Receiving information, the district steering committee for urgent issues in forest protection and fire prevention and fighting mobilised forces and mobile vehicles to the area to engage in fire fighting and search and rescue work; inspect the scene, estimate the damage, and stabilise the situation.
The drill was completed as planned and achieved the set goals, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles; building a combat coordination mechanism between units and forces in fire fighting and rescue. The exercise contributed to raising the responsibilities of Party committees and government leaders at all levels, and locals’ awareness and ability to respond to forest fires.
The 2024 forest fire fighting and search and rescue drill in Van Ho district was evaluated by the steering committee as excellent. On this occasion, the provincial People's Committee presented certificates of merit to two groups and six individuals. Meanwhile, the Van Ho district People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to six groups and 19 individuals.
