Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Son La city holds 16th Congress

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Son La city on June 27 organised its 16th Congress for the 2024-2029 term.

In the past term, action programmes of the city's VFF have been implemented specifically, practically and effectively, with their contents meeting the people’s aspirations. Dissemination, mobilisation, and gathering of people from all walks of life have been enhanced, reflected through the implementation of the "All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilised urban areas" campaign, and the completion of more than 300 "People do, State supports" projects.

Implementing the "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind" movement, the committee has coordinated with sectors and organisations to support the construction of over 200 charity houses for poor households; encouraged organisations and individuals to sponsor over 110 students in extremely difficult circumstances, with 500,000 VND (19.64 USD) per head per month; and provided over 1.2 billion VND for poor households in districts.

Relief, humanitarian and charity activities have been carried out promptly and effectively and for right persons. During the 2019-2023 period, over 5 billion VND and hundreds of tonnes of goods were mobilised in support of people inside and outside the province to overcome damage caused by natural disasters and epidemics.

With the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Development", in the 2024 – 2029 term, the committee and member organisations will continue to innovate operational contents and methods in a specific, practical, flexible and creative direction. It will strive for all VFF committees at all levels to coordinate with member organisations to persuade their members and people to well implement the Party's guidelines and the State’s policies and laws. Every year, 100% of residential areas will organise the Great National Unity Festival associated with the founding anniversary of the Vietnam National United Front – the VFF’s traditional day (November 18); and hold fundraising campaigns for the "For the Poor" fund and social welfare activities.
