Tay Bac University held a ceremony on March 23 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Prime Minister’s decision to establish the institution on the basis of Tay Bac College of Education (March 23, 2001 – 2026). The event was attended by leaders of several provincial departments and agencies, along with the university’s staff, and students.

Vice Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on March 23 held a working session with the Department of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to prepare for the upcoming meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Governor of Japan’s Okayama prefecture.

In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam sports sector’s Traditional Day (March 27, 1946 – 2026) and the 67th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to and meeting with northwestern ethnic communities in Thuan Chau (May 7, 1959 – 2026), on March 22, Thuan Chau commune organised the Olympic Day Run For Public Health and For National Security.

The Chieng On Border Guard Station under the provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with charity groups, on March 22 held a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Loving School – Supporting Children's Journey to School” and “Lighting Up Border Roads” projects in Yen Son commune.

The Youth Union of Chieng Coi ward, in coordination with the ward Women’s Union, the grassroots Youth Union of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Division, and the Youth Union of Son La Urban Environment and Services Joint Stock Company, launched the “Green Sunday” campaign on March 22.

Tat Nang Hot Spring, located in Phu Mau hamlet, Van Ho commune, is gradually becoming an appealing destination for tourists. To promote sustainable community-based tourism, the GREAT Project is supporting the Tat Nang Tourism and Agriculture Cooperative in renewing its mindset and applying digital transformation to its operations.

At Tay Bac (Northwest) Square, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the provincial Department of Public Security and the provincial Youth Union, on March 22 launched the Olympic Run for National Security, the “All People Exercise” programme, and the Son La provincial cross-country and half marathon race 2026. Attending the event were leaders of the Vietnam Olympic Committee and representatives of relevant departments and agencies. The programme was accompanied by sponsor Herbalife.

The Youth Union of the Son La provincial People’s Committee on March 21 organised the Digital Transformation Day for Youth 2026, in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – 2026).

To Mua commune held the opening ceremony of its Ban (Bauhinia variegata) Flower Festival 2026 on the evening of March 20. Attending the event were Hoang Van Chat, former Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and former Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; leaders of Van Ho and Song Khua communes, along with a large number of local residents and visitors from both inside and outside the province.

The Ngoc Chien commune People’s Committee on March 21 opened the 2026 “Son Tra Sky Race” mountain climbing event in Nam Nghep hamlet.

The People’s Committee of Chieng An ward launched a campaign themed “Flower Planting Today – Tourism Tomorrow” in Tong Xet hamlet on March 21. Attending the event were representatives from several agencies and units in To Hieu, Chieng An, and Chieng Coi wards, along with a large number of Chieng An

Nguyen Minh Vu, member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with a working delegation, on March 21 held a working session with authorities of the Chieng Khuong main border gate in Chieng Khuong commune.

A photo exhibition and a showcase of OCOP products and other outstanding local agricultural specialties are being held within the framework of the Ngoc Chien Son Tra (Hawthorn) Flower Festival 2026 from March 21–22, attracting a large number of both residents and visitors.

In March, To Mua transforms into a sea of pristine white as the ban (Bauhinia) blossoms bloom. This is also when the Ban Flower Festival takes place, a cultural tradition preserved by the local ethnic communities for generations, drawing crowds of visitors from both within and beyond the province to explore its unique charm.

Nguyen Minh Vu, member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with a working delegation, on March 21 held a meeting with the Son La provincial People’s Committee on economic diplomacy, the current situation of and orientations for socio-economic development in border and border-gate areas.

The Son La Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Vietnam Bodybuilding & Weightlifting Federation, held the opening ceremony of the National Youth Weightlifting Championship 2026 in Thao Nguyen ward on March 20.
