"Savings for the poor” week launched

The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies’ transaction office in Muong La district on April 11 launched the "Savings for the poor” week.

Units and individuals respond to the “Savings for the poor” week

The programme, from March 21 to April 21, with its peak from March 21-26, saw the participation of all-level Party Committees, authorities and organisations entrusted by the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. Each organisation, individual and business opened a savings of at least 500,000 VND (21.3 USD), for terms ranging from one to 12 months. The savings will be added to the fund in support of poor households and social policy beneficiaries in economic development, thus contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.

Leaders of the district People’s Committee and representatives from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies’ transaction office in the district present savings books to representatives of local political and social organisations.

Right after the launching ceremony, participants opened 19 savings books worth 219 million VND (9,330 USD). Between March 21 and April 11, hundreds of individuals, organisations and businesses have joined the programme with nearly 1.3 billion VND (55,400 USD)./.
