Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Lo Minh Hung presents a scroll felicitating the 20th founding anniversary from the provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to a representative of Sop Cop district.

20 years ago, on December 2, 2003, the Government issued Decree No. 148/2003/ND-CP on establishing Sop Cop district on the basis of separation from Song Ma district. On December 26, 2003, the standing board of the provincial Party Committee issued Decision No. 638-QD/TU on establishing the Party Organisation of Sop Cop district and appointing 25 officials to join the district’s provisional Party Committee.

On January 9, 2004, the provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the birth of Sop Cop district. After 20 years of construction and development, the district Party Organisation has concretized the views, resolutions and policies of the Party Central Committee and the provincial Party Committee; and set out appropriate decisions for each period. It has paid attention to allocating investment capital for infrastructure development to build Sop Cop into a fifth-tier urban area and a town in the 2021-2025 period. Its total budget revenue in 2023 reached over 38 billion VND (1.56 million USD), equal to 104.7% of the estimate assigned by the province. The district has 2,218 hectares of fruit trees, with a total output of 3,000 tons. There are three products recognized as meeting OCOP (One Commune One Product) standards. The forest coverage rate reaches 47.4%.

A book on the history of the Party Organisation Sop Cop district makes debut.

Currently, from the district center to eight communes, there are four-season motorable roads. The rate of households using electricity is 97.46%. Two communes have met national standards for a new-style rural area (2015-2020). Social security and poverty reduction policies have been implemented promptly, with a poverty rate decreasing by 4-5% annually.

The socio-cultural field has seen many positive changes. There are 12 out of 21 schools meeting national standards. All the eight communes satisfy national health standards. The rate of residents participating in health insurance reaches 100% of the assigned plan. The friendly cooperation with Laos has been strengthened and developed, contributing to building a Vietnam-Laos border line of stability and comprehensive development. The work of building the Party and consolidating the political system has been given great attention. The entire district has 41 grassroots-level Party organisations, with 4,014 Party members.

Individuals with outstanding achievements receive certificates of merit from the provincial People's Committee.

On the occasion, the Sop Cop district Party Committee launched a book on the history of the Party Organisation of Sop Cop district in the 2003-2023 period. The book is aimed at fostering the revolutionary spirit and love of homeland and country among generations of Party officials and members, youth, students and people of all walks of life in the district.
