Attending the event were Colonel La Ngoc Tuan, Political Commissar of Engineer Brigade 83 of the Vietnam Navy; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Moc Chau district; representatives of the Regiment 83 volunteer soldier liaison committee; and families of martyrs.
In the fight against the enemies to gain national independence and freedom, hundreds of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers heroically fought and sacrificed their lives in the battlefields of Laos. With the international and historical value of the two countries' revolutions, on December 13, 2004, the monument was ranked as a provincial historical relic site by the People's Committee of Son La province. In 2023, the relic site will be upgraded and renovated on a planned area of over 1,900 sq.m, at a total cost of 1.2 billion VND (49,500 USD). The project covered the renovation of memorial stele, yard, fences and lighting system at the site.
The relic site is a red address to educate patriotism as well as the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos; and express the gratitude and respect of the people of all ethnic groups in Moc Chau district to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the noble international spirit.
