Provincial Party leader delivers Tet gifts in Bac Yen district

Nguyen Huu Dong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of the provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, on February 7 visited and presented gifts to the people of Bac Yen district as the Lunar New Year (Tet) is approaching.

He was accompanied by Vi Duc Tho, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Cha A Cua, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Council; and leaders of a number of departments, agencies and political organisations in the province.

The provincial Party chief and the working delegation listened to Bac Yen district's report on preparations for the Lunar New Year 2024 celebration and the work of supporting poor households on the occasion. Counting 205 households and 888 people at risk of hunger, the district has developed a plan to visit and give gifts to them. At the same time, it has directed communes and towns to proactively use social security resources allocated to localities and mobilise on-site resources to provide timely support for these households. So far, the district has mobilised, received and delivered more than 2,600 gifts, worth more than 1.1 billion VND (45,000 USD) in total to poor households.

On this occasion, Dong gave gifts to the Party Committee and People's Committee of Phieng Ban commune and 20 local poor households. Meanwhile, agencies, units, businesses and individuals donated 413 million VND (1,690 USD) to Bac Yen district to provide Tet support for poor households.
