Son La police launches peak campaign to suppress crimes, protect security and order for Tet

The provincial Public Security Agency held a ceremony at Tay Bac Square in Son La city on December 14 evening to launch a peak campaign to suppress crimes, and protect security and order for the Lunar New Year 2024 (Tet).

Attending the ceremony were Trang Thi Xuan, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee; Major General Nguyen Ngoc Van, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Director of the provincial Police Agency; and other officials of the province.

The peak campaign starts from December 15, 2023 to February 29, 2024, during which the provincial police will mobilise maximum forces, technical means and equipment, to synchronously and drastically deploy measures to prevent and fight all types of crimes, especially organized crime, crimes related to "black credit", fraud, and asset appropriation; criminals using weapons and explosives; robbery, theft and other crimes often seen during Tet.

The police will focus on effectively implementing the Government's Project 06 on developing population data applications, electronic identification and authentication to serve national digital transformation; strengthen residence and immigration management; ensuring traffic order and safety, especially measures to handle traffic accidents, ease traffic congestion and prevent illegal racing. At the same time, they will step up communications to encourage the people to raise vigilance, and proactively prevent and denounce crimes.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Trang Thi Xuan requested departments, agencies, units and localities to actively coordinate with the police force to promptly resolve complex problems arising; and mobilise the strength of the entire political system and all people to ensure security and order.

The provincial Public Security Agency needs to carefully prepare forces and means to effectively carry out the peak campaign, while increasing measures to detect and fight crimes, economic violations, and trade fraud; ensure fire and explosion prevention and control during the Lunar New Year as well as the safety of political, economic, and socio-cultural activities in the beginning of the year, she said.
