Yen Chau completes makeshift house removal, technical safety test on Chieng Khoi - Phieng Khoai road

Yen Chau district held a conference on May 4 to announce the completion of makeshift housing removal for the 2021-2025 period, and a technical safety test on the Chieng Khoi-Phieng Khoai road.

Attending the event were Hoang Quoc Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; members of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board; and leaders of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, departments and agencies.

In 2021-2025, Yen Chau district has 1,168 poor and near-poor households facing housing-related difficulties that need the attention and support of the State and the community. To date, the district has eliminated 100% of the sub-standard houses under a related project, and 26 additional houses during the implementation process, with a total cost of over 38.4 billion VND (1.5 million USD), of which 13 billion VND was mobilised from agencies and units. Local residents contributed money and work hours worth over 25.3 billion VND in total.

After more than 2 years of construction, the Chieng Khoi - Phieng Khoai road has basically passed the technical safety examination. The road, linking Me hamlet in Chieng Khoi commune with Tam Thanh hamlet in Phieng Khoai commune, has a total length of 10km, and a width of 3.5m, with a total investment of over 157 billion VND (6.2 million USD) sourced from the State budget.

Speaking at the conference, Khanh acknowledged and praised Yen Chau district's efforts in implementing the work of removing makeshift houses in the 2021-2025 period. He expressed his gratitude to organisations, individuals, and donors who joined hands and supported Yen Chau in particular and Son La province in general in the work. The leader urged Yen Chau district to complete the design of works on the road and auxiliary items to soon put it into operation.
